Node - Networking

A Node is a general word derived from the Latin language it is either a redistributed point communication endpoint or else a connection point
The definition of a node can be defined by a protocol and the network layers of the system this can be basically derived in the physics is an active network node and an electric device which was attached to the network and it was capable of receiving, sending or forwarding the information around the channels.

Computer network nodes:
In communication of various data the node differs according to the physical network in DCE – Data communication equipment they are as modem, switch, bridge or a hub and in DTE- Data terminal equipment they are as a digital telephone handset, a host computer or a printer.
And in LAN or WAN node will have a MAC address which were unique and will not be same for any one system it will possess for each network interface and some of them are routers, modems, TV’s, Computers and mostly all the devices which provide internet

Telecommunication Network Nodes:
And in a certain telephone network node may be consider as a public or a private telephone exchange. In Cellular communications the nodes are Serving GPRS Support Node, Base station controller, Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN), Home Location Register are some of the examples of the nodes. In these the cellular base stations of networks are not considered to be nodes.

In cable television systems (CATV), these are mainly associated with a fiber generic node this are used in the business or homes around the geographic path to which the node was served from a common fiber optic receiver.

Distributed system nodes:
In the network is distributed then in that the nodes will be servers, peers and clients and in some cases peer may form as client and in other cases as server. Nodes can be supernodes in a peer to peer or overlay networks which actively route data for network devices for others.
Virtual nodes are used in distributed systems to which are mostly heterogeneity of the nodes. This type of problem can be addressed as consistent hashing and special algorithms.
